Connect a Microsoft Exchange or Outlook mailbox to Wave for outbound email sending via SMTP with OAuth2 authentication. This suits organizations running Microsoft Exchange Server or Microsoft 365 with Exchange Online.

How to Connect

1

Open the integration

Go to Integrations → Microsoft Exchange.
2

Connect Microsoft

Click Connect and sign in with your Microsoft account.
3

Set a custom sender (optional)

Enter a custom sender email address if you want Wave to send from a different address than your logged-in account.
Your email address and display name are detected automatically unless you specify a custom sender. Wave requests offline access (to keep the connection active) and permission to send email via SMTP on your behalf.

What Gets Synced

This integration is for sending only. Direction: Outbound only (Wave → Exchange SMTP → recipient) When: Per email send (no background sync)

Features

  • Emails sent by Wave come from your Exchange mailbox address.
  • Uses OAuth2 for SMTP authentication (not basic auth), in line with Microsoft’s modern auth requirements.
  • Supports custom sender addresses for shared mailbox scenarios.

Limitations & Requirements

  • SMTP AUTH must be enabled on your mailbox in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. If it is disabled (the default for some tenants), Wave cannot send emails. Contact your IT administrator if you are unsure.
  • The connection uses STARTTLS on port 587 (smtp.office365.com).
  • This is a personal integration, connected per user.

Disconnecting

Go to Integrations → Microsoft Exchange and click Disconnect. This removes the integration. Future Wave emails revert to the default Wave sender address.
