U.S. Legal Conferences & Trade Shows (2026-2027)

The short version: there are 47 major legal conferences scheduled in the United States between now and the end of 2027. The largest legal technology event is Legalweek New York (March 2027), followed by ILTACON (Nashville, August 2027) and ABA TECHSHOW (Chicago, March 2027). For legal operations it is the CLOC Global Institute (Las Vegas, May 2027) and the ACC Legal Ops Con (Chicago, April 2027). The largest in-house event is the ACC Annual Meeting (Boston, October 2026), and the largest general legal gathering is the ABA Annual Meeting (Chicago, July 2027). Every date was read off the organizer's own site on September 23, 2026.

Three legal tech events on the old lists no longer exist

Litera has no conference called Changemakers; its own hosted summit, The Changing Lawyer, last ran in 2021. iManage ConnectLive held its 2026 editions and has published nothing for 2027. And Legal Innovators California has confirmed a sixth San Francisco edition but its own page still says "TBC, 2027".

All three appear on conference roundups currently circulating. None of them has a date you can book against, so none is in the calendar below.

Legal conferences divide by function far more than by seniority. A litigation support manager choosing an e-discovery platform, a legal operations lead benchmarking outside counsel spend, a plaintiff lawyer sourcing cases, and a partner chasing continuing education are served by four entirely different circuits.

Below is the full calendar in date order, then the same events grouped by who they are actually for. If you exhibit rather than attend, the last section is the one to read.

Dates verified against each organizer's own website on September 23, 2026. Several bar associations publish their forward dates only on a future-dates page rather than an event microsite, and a few rotate cities annually, so confirm the venue before booking travel.

What changed on this page

These are the differences between this calendar and the legal conference roundups circulating since the start of 2026, including the previous version of this page.

Relativity Fest is now RelFest

Same event, same Chicago slot, shorter name. The 2026 edition runs September 29 to October 1 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. No 2027 date has been published yet.

The legal operations circuit is now on the page

The previous version of this calendar had no legal operations events at all. The CLOC Global Institute, both ACC conferences and the Buying Legal Council's New York conference are the four that matter, and between them they cover the buy side of legal services end to end.

The IPO Annual Meeting's next edition is not in the United States

The Intellectual Property Owners Association meets in Toronto in September 2026. This calendar carries the 2027 edition in Atlanta instead, because every other entry here is a U.S. event and mixing the two makes a calendar useless for travel planning.

State bar conventions are represented, not listed exhaustively

Almost every state bar runs an annual convention and they are the cheapest continuing education most lawyers will find. New York, Florida, Texas and California are listed here as the four largest. For anywhere else, go straight to your own state bar's site.

Exhibiting at a legal conference?

Wave Connect turns badge scans into enriched, CRM-ready leads before your team leaves the hall, so follow-up goes out while the conversation is still fresh.

See how event lead capture works

The largest category here, and the one that has changed most. Three of these are vendor user conferences that are essential if you run the platform and close to useless if you do not, and the independents split between a very large trade show and two deliberately small rooms.

The Legal Tech Fund's fifth annual summit, and the most investor-dense room in legal technology. Founders, venture investors and the innovation leads who buy from them, kept deliberately small. Dates and registration on the TLTF Summit site.

Best for: legal tech founders raising capital and VCs sourcing deals before wider market attention
Skip if: you are a practicing attorney seeking CLE credit or product training sessions

The American Bar Association's technology conference, aimed at practising lawyers rather than at IT. The best starting point if you are choosing tools for a small or midsize firm. Dates and registration on the ABA TECHSHOW site.

Best for: solo and small-firm attorneys comparing practice management, billing and document tools

Skip if: you run solo ops at a small department with little purchasing leverage

How to choose which one to attend

Legal conference budgets get scrutinized partner by partner, and a national ticket plus travel is easily the cost of a week of billable time. The question that decides it is whether you are buying software, sourcing work, or meeting a professional obligation.

Buying or running legal software

Legalweek and ILTACON put the whole market in one hall. ABA TECHSHOW does the same at the small-firm end, and TLTF is where the next generation of vendors is funded.

The vendor user conferences are a different decision: go to Relativity, NetDocuments, Clio, Filevine or Thomson Reuters only if you already run the platform.

Sourcing work or meeting obligations

Mass Torts Made Perfect, the National Trial Lawyers Summit and the AAJ conventions are where plaintiff work moves; DRI is the defense side of the same market. INTA runs almost entirely on booked meetings between firms and foreign associates.

For continuing education, your state bar's convention is cheaper than any national event and requires no flight.

A note on cost. The spread is wide and the cheapest options are the least publicized. The LMA Tech West by Southwest conference is $550 for members, while a Relativity Fest pass starts at $1,250 and the large national conferences sit well above that before travel. Association membership is the usual lever, and on the bar and specialist events it often pays for itself on a single registration.

One structural thing worth knowing before you book: several of these are not conferences in the ordinary sense. INTA is a meeting market, the ABA Midyear Meeting is a governance session, and the Managing Partner Forum is a closed-door leadership discussion. All three are valuable for the right person and a waste of money for anyone expecting a program and an exhibit hall.

If you are exhibiting rather than attending

Legal is a buyer's market for vendors and it shows on the floor. Legalweek and ILTACON put you alongside every competitor you have, in front of a buyer who has already sat through a dozen demos. The specialist events are the opposite trade: the AAML meeting or the NCBJ conference is small, but everyone in the room is the exact person you sell to.

Both kinds fail the same way. A team scans several hundred badges, the file arrives the following week as a spreadsheet of names and firms, and by the time anyone works out which of them can sign a contract the conversation has gone cold. The scanning is not the problem. The gap between the scan and a complete, CRM-ready record is.
